The Journey

Good afternoon Coeus heads! Allow me to introduce myself to you, our dedicated followers. My name is Ethan Rivelle and I am the new Co-Owner of Coeus Clothing. This last Friday I made the drive/move from Seattle to Los Angeles to jump on with the Coeus team, and to head up our blogging and social media operations. My main focus will basically be writing blog posts and coming up with content for our bloggers to write about, and I have my hand in everything else the company does.

The truck all loaded up

From the time we were in Seattle last Thursday to today in Los Angeles my business partner and other co-owner of Coeus Clothing Kolby, Jake our skate team manager, and I have done nothing but get our grind on. The breakdown of this last weeks events up to today is as follows:

On Thursday May 3rd, 2012 we had our summer release party, fashion show, and benefit concert all rolled up into one big fatty. The event was held in downtown Seattle at a venue called The Sole Repair Shop, which I must say was the perfect venue for a perfect and successful night. Thanks again to everyone who came out to our release party and showed their love and support for us. It means the world to us that you all showed up and had enjoyed yourselves! We will have pictures from the event posted on the blog and website very very soon.

Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon was when the madness really began. Like true champions, we drove straight through the night with no sleep from Seattle to Los Angeles. We did this because we had to be ready for an event in Hollywood on Sunday morning. The event was the grand opening of the Cahuenga Corridor art and fashion Street Market in Hollywood. Altogether it took us 20 hours to drive from Seattle to Los Angeles. It was a wild ride to say the least. We also ended up filming the entire drive as a time lapse, which turned out to be an extremely rad idea. Altogether the video takes 30 minutes to watch right now. We are working on condensing the footage a bit more, and then we will put some of it on our blog for you all to enjoy.

Jake and I at the Cahuenga Corridor event

Sunday morning was a doozey, I barely got any sleep due to the extreme amount of caffeine I ingested during the hellish drive, but Kolby, Jake, and I mustered up all the energy we had to load up my truck with all of our new gear and head to Hollywood to set ourselves up at the grand opening of the Cahuenga Corridor Art and Fashion street market. It was a great learning experience for all of us, we sold some merchandise, met some amazing people, and had a lot of fun at the same time. We will be out there again this Sunday to do it all over again in Holly-weird. Come say hello! We will be there from 10am to 7pm, and it’s FREE FOR ALL AGES! There will also be live music and entertainment, all located the corner of Cahuenga Blvd & Selma Ave.

Monday morning was the first time I personally saw our new office. I guess my expectations were really low though because I was and am absolutely floored by how amazing our office building is. Kolby got us the hook up… big time. The people that work here range from famous dress makers to Dj’s. The building itself has a large venue space, production/recording studio, and is decorated with graffiti art all along the outside of it. You would never even have a clue that any of that stuff was in the building either. It is our ideal office space.

Tuesday we basically just ran boring ass errands all day to get some supplies for our office.

Wednesday was a lot more entertaining than Tuesday. Before we left the house we got some really exciting news that we got a booth at Summer Jam at the Gorge June 9th, which is one of the biggest hip-hop events on the west coast. Most of the day after that was spent getting gnarly painting the office bright white, hanging out with Stunnaman’s ratchet ass, and planning how we were going to swag the office space out for ourselves.

Stunnaman is a true artist

Thursday, we moved everything into the office! It looks exactly how we envisioned it to look with all of our stuff in it. We still have a bunch of stuff to do to get it to where we want it to be, but it is coming along nicely, and we will keep you updated on that. I also ate an In and Out Burger for the first time in my life yesterday, and it was fantastic.

Today, Friday, marks the end of the first week of me, Ethan, living in California. Today we are finally in the office working and not driving around all day as we have been this entire week, because of all that I haven’t had a chance to update the blog until now! So now that we are a little more settled into our office we will be updating the blog everyday and letting you all know what we get into each day.

Electric Coffin BOXES OF DEATH 3D Tour

electric coffin 680x283 Electric Coffin BOXES OF DEATH 3D Tour

Electric Coffin’s Boxes of Death 3D traveling art show has come to life once again for its third year of unique exhibition. 50 handmade coffins, meticulously designed and presented by 50 individual artists, will travel from Seattle to Portland and finally Los Angeles as a part of the tour.

Each artist in the Boxes of Death 3D tour uses the same coffin canvas format to create their own artistic statement surrounding the preconceived notions and ideas that surround the coffin shape. The installation will showcase artists from the farthest reaches of the continental United States and will highlight an incredibly diverse range of creative backgrounds.

Seattle’s DIY think tank, event space, art gallery and home of Electric Coffin – The Piranha Shop – hosted the first installment of the tour, where death resided through the month of March. The tour then traveled to Nemo Design in Portland has landed at The Holding Company in Los Angeles for the LA Art Walk on Thursday April 12th.

The Holding Company is a beautiful 4500 sqft multi-use space settled in the Los Angeles area minutes from Downtown, Echo Park, Silverlake, and Hollywood.  The event space has hosted a range of art installations, film shoots, fashion shows and private events, most recently Comune’s “Throttled” event featuring photography from Ray Gordon. www.theholdingco.net

Electric Coffin is an art based creative firm founded in 2009. Our slogan “Built from Death” embraces the notion of using salvaged materials and reworking old imagery to create something new. Everything we create is handmade and one of a kind. Based out of Seattle, the company was founded by two local artists Patrick “Duffy” De Armas and Justin Kane Elder.

Ferris Wheel X New Seattle Landmark

“Just another addition to one of the greatest cities on earth.” -Miles Semanskee. I couldn’t  have said it better myself. Miles is one of my roommates at WSU, and I heard him say this about the new permanent Ferris Wheel being built on Pier 57 overlooking Elliot Bay in downtown Seattle Washington. Construction began on the Ferris Wheel earlier today.

This is a digital rendering of what the Ferris Wheel is supposed to look like.

The rumors are true… Ron Burgundy himself announced on Conan that he and the Action 4 news team will be returning to do a sequel to Anchorman! Get your suit shopping done early and make sure to do at least 1000 bicep curls a day until this movie comes out in order to get ready for this awesome event.
